ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

Endodontics, more commonly known as root canal treatment, is a procedure used to treat infection or inflammation inside the tooth. When the inner pulp tissue becomes infected due to deep decay, cracks, trauma, or repeated dental procedures, root canal therapy helps eliminate the infection while preserving your natural tooth.

During the procedure, the infected or damaged nerve tissue is carefully removed from inside the root canals. The canals are then thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sealed with a biocompatible material called Gutta-Percha to protect the tooth from future infection.

At our office, we use advanced rotary endodontic technology with modern electric handpieces designed to provide:

  • Greater precision and efficiency
  • Improved patient comfort and safety
  • More predictable and successful treatment outcomes

Root canal therapy is a highly effective way to relieve pain, eliminate infection, and save your natural tooth — helping you avoid extraction whenever possible.

What Happens During a Root Canal Procedure?

During root canal treatment:

  • The infected pulp and nerve tissue are carefully removed
  • The inside of the canals is cleaned and disinfected
  • The canals are shaped and prepared
  • The space is sealed with permanent filling material
  • A crown may be recommended afterward to strengthen and protect the tooth

Modern root canal treatment is safe, comfortable, and similar to receiving a routine dental filling.

Root Canal Retreatment

In some situations, a tooth that has previously undergone root canal therapy may not heal properly or may develop a new infection months or even years later. When this occurs, root canal retreatment can often save the tooth and restore oral health.

During retreatment, our doctors will:

  • Reopen the tooth
  • Remove the previous root canal filling material
  • Carefully inspect the canals for hidden infection or additional canals
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect the area again
  • Refill and reseal the canals to protect the tooth

Root canal retreatment is often an excellent alternative to tooth extraction and can help preserve your natural smile for many years.
